![]() I have a question about this brain tumor in my head… Tuesday, March 12 I awoke to discover my vision had become significantly impaired. The doctors said it was not my eyes and so we did a MRI and it showed two masses in my brain, one in the area the affects vision. Here is my question
Why should a servant of God have a brain tumor like this? Am I blaming God? Well, yes and no. If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground apart from our Heavenly Father, surely a servant of God cannot develop a brain tumor apart from Him either. Let’s think about those birds for a minute. Jesus said, “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31 (NKJV) Sparrows do not fall to the ground “apart from your Father’s will!” Sparrows don’t fall to the ground indiscriminately. They fall in God’s will and not apart from His will. Birds fly in at least two environments: They fly in air and they also fly in the “goodness of the Lord which fills the earth." “He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.” Psalm 33:5 Two environments: Air and goodness. Though birds fall according to the will of God, and in the timing of God and in the way God ordains, yet they also fall in God’s goodness. God’s servants (those who are able in truth to address God as Father) are also “flying” in at least two environments. One environment is the Fall and all that it has brought upon man and creation and the human body. The other is God’s goodness which fills the earth. It is the sin of the Fall that has brought mankind into the troubled condition in which he finds himself. Death has entered in (Romans 5:12) and death eventually catches up with each of us. Some of us will exit planet earth through accident or injury. Others will live many years and exit through the effects of the Fall that accumulate on the body and cause it to stop working. Does God cause brain tumors? I have to say yes He does, and no He doesn’t. Both are true. If a sparrow cannot fall apart from God, neither can a servant of God develop a brain tumor apart from Him. We live in two environments, the Fall and the loving-kindness of God that fills the earth. Sin and the fall have brought death into the world. But in this environment, the goodness of God upholds us. Like wings hold up a bird in flight. So faith and trust hold up the servant of God in the midst of the environment of the Fall that produces such things as brain tumors. Faith and trust are our wings. Jesus said, “ Do not fear”! Birds fall according to the will of God and we who are of more value than many birds are cared for by the same God. A brain tumor does not get into the head of a servant of God apart from the will of our Heavenly Father. In the midst of flight, we are upheld by faith and trust. Keep flying! The goodness of God is holding us up! “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds. The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms!” Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NKJV) Prayer request – For healing of course! The goodness of God that allows brain tumors also makes room for healing. Pray for wisdom to be guided by God’s good hand to the right treatments. What can you do? I believe the International Church Council Project for which I have given the past 14 years is a Kingdom work and is worthy of the tithes and gifts of God’s people. Please help us in this ministry effort that is bringing blessing to many around the globe. Your gift will go to help us with ministry and living expenses (the laborer is worthy of his hire). And will especially help at this critical time when additional expenses are on the horizon because of this medical condition. Please consider a onetime gift to help with critical expenses but in addition, and more importantly, please join us with a recurring gift that will help us continue in this good work of God, the International Church Council Project. If you wish to help with cancer medical bills, go here If you do not regularly receive our updates and would like to, please go here Please pray for the ICCP and please support our work here Any onetime gift at this critical time of $500 or more will receive a thank you: a copy of the book Dr. Jay Grimstead and I have written titled, Rebuilding Civilization on the BIBLE: Proclaiming the Truth on 24 Controversial Issues. When making your gift please remember that it is the recurring gift that makes us strong to continue month to month and allows us to focus on ministry instead of fundraising. God bless you!
