A verse of the old and trusted hymn by Samuel J. Stone (1866) titled,
The Church’s One Foundation sings:
The Church shall never perish!
Her dear Lord to defend,
To guide, sustain, and cherish,
Is with her to the end:
Though there be those who hate her,
And false sons in her pale,
Against both foe or traitor
She ever shall prevail.
World Magazine, June 27, 2015, page 17 reports: Tony Compolo released a statement on June 8 endorsing same-sex marriage and saying the church should accept UNrepentant “gay Christian couples who have made a lifetime commitment to one another.”
Read the truth
A kind friend responded to my post regarding homosexuality (see Certain People will Not Go to Heaven). My friend suggested that we ought not to judge other people. The idea that Jesus does not want us to judge comes out of a very selective reading of Jesus words and actions. Yes, he said, “Judge not that you be not judged”. He also spoke of getting the log out of our own eye before we try to help our brother get the spec out of his eye.
American culture is exported to the entire world via movies, novels, and ungodly internet sites. American culture needs to be discipled by the church; for it does not yet conform to the words Jesus spoke,
“teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…”
“…Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!”
Isaiah 30:1-2 (NKJV)
