Tired! Tired of eating salad and vegetables and other cancer diet food that I do not relish, tired of my daily regimen of vitamins (nutricuticals) that make me feel nauseated and weak; tired, tired, tired!
Regarding this I commented to a friend, and he said – I have seen a lot of people on chemo therapy, and you look a whole lot better than they…maybe you should stay on your pills and continue doing what the doctors tell you.
Some of the doctors thought I was on my way out of this world. But prayer, and the treatments at Oasis of Hope, and the current home care program, part of which is described above, have brought me a good measure of health. God has been good to us and we are embracing James’ admonition: “…take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord–that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” Job was not being punished for his sin. God had a plan and that was to demonstrate to Job and to all that He is “very compassionate and merciful”! I have and do call upon God, asking Him to show me any sin(s) in particular I am being disciplined for. In the absence of any such revelation, I trust that these sufferings are the sovereign dealings of our Sovereign God.
Sovereignty! That is the lesson of Job. Job’s friends said – It is because of your sin! God said – It is not because of Job’s sin. God said – It is because I am sovereign. And God showed in His sovereignty that He is “VERY compassionate and merciful”!
In the midst of suffering God’s promises are all the more precious…
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you! Yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
