It is essential to statists, those who believe there is no higher authority than the state, that those who serve the state think in step with the state religion.
For this reason Daniel and his three friends, when taken by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, were each given new names. The new name of each one incorporated the name of one of the Babylonian gods. Daniel was given the name Belteshazzar which means Bel’s prince. Hananiah was given the name Shadrach reminiscent of the Babylonian Sun-god. Mishael was given the name Meshach relating to the name of the Babylonian goddess called Sheshach. And Azariah was given the name Abed-nego relating to the Babylonian Fire-god.
It is not only ancient statists like Nebuchadnezzar who employ radical means to convert its servants to the state religion. Humanist John Dunphy made clear the vision of winning the students in the public schools to the humanist religion. Dunphy said:
I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level—preschool day care or large state university. The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new—the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism, resplendent in its promise of a world in which the never-realized Christian ideal of “love thy neighbor” will be finally achieved.1
America has a state religion, and that religion is taught by the government schools (also known as public school). Humanism maintains that there is no higher authority than man, and man represented in the state is the ultimate authority. The public school system promotes this worldview. Every worldview is a religious worldview because it is accepted by faith. Christians accept the Christian worldview by faith. The humanist-evolutionist accepts his by faith. The Christian believes, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The humanist-evolutionist believes, “In the beginning a big happenchance occurred”. The humanist-evolutionist’s belief about beginnings is no less faith-based (religious) than the Christian’s.
The government schools teach religion, an anti-Christ religion. A question every Christian parent needs to answer is this–in light of the command to train their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4), at all hours (Deuteronomy 6), and avoid teaching them pagan ways (Isaiah 2:6; 2 Corinthians 6:17), should they send their kids to the teaching-priests of the state’s anti-Christian religion?
